Mom and Dad pfaff back in LA and Lucy sits up!!

Mom and Dad were in town last week to pay a visit to their number one dentist. After the torture in the clinic, we took them to the L.A. Zoo (thanks to our recent membership!:) and this time we got to see many more of the animals since the weather was behaving correctly.

This little Africanish deer was sizing up the wall and planning his escape, no doubt...

Here Lucy sat up for the FIRST time!! She tri-poded for a good 10 seconds atop Mr. Noodle's beautiful table top. We've always loved Mr. Noodle!

And what would a visit be without gramps to make you happy...

Lovely little water baby - a post by daddo

Lucy not only loves to take her 'floaty' outside in the big pool, but loves it in the tub as well...

Along with her latest greats in new food consumption (home-made carrots and sweet potatoes... yum!), sitting up (pics to come), and hair growth on the noggin(kinda:), we've trained Lucy to catch water droplets...

Here I was training Moosey to float on her back. You've got to believe me that I didn't submerge her in some form of transparent jello as this picture makes it out to be...

Lucy also enjoys a nice shower...

Praise God for so many fun ways to enjoy bathing!

Solid.

After only one week of eating carrots at lunch, other things have turned solid for lucy...yep, you guessed it, her poo. It's amazing how such a small amount of "real food" can change her poo. No more runny, smell-free (for the most part), easy cleaning poo. She's now on to the semi-solid, smelly, more challenging to clean from the crack poo.
Now I know I usually attach a picture with posts, but I thought for the sake of people still checking our blog I would pass for this post.

Pfaffs and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day

It all started out with Lucy and I waking up with a terrible cold (that started yesterday) - stuffy, nasty runny noses, coughs, sore throats, & fevers for the both of us. After rounds of tylenol the fevers have broken, now we're going to try to pump Lucy full of pedialyte...we'll see how she likes that! Poor thing, I feel so bad that she can't blow her nose or tell me where it hurts :(

The horrible part of today consisted of trails of ants invading my desk, bathroom, living room, lucy's closet and random ants in the kitchen. Ant problems are nothing new to us here, but we've never had this many! The pest guy has been out about 5 times in the last two weeks, but since lucy is so small, he can't spray, he can only dust spots in the apartment. Since that hasn't been working, we started spraying room by room today. So currently we can't go into our room for 24 hours, yep, we're camping in the living room tonight. Then tomorrow its lucy's room...don't know how we're going to do the living room/kitchen...that might have to wait until we're gone again.

Then comes the no good and very bad day part...Justin's bike was just stolen at school. Yep, someone cut his lock and stole his bike in broad daylight right outside of UCLA's dental school. Crazy huh, that someone could do that in the middle of the day with students all around? It's really a bummer since that's his form of transportation to school and back. It was a pretty nice bike, since he bikes 8 miles roundtrip every day. Its' really too bad, he was always very careful to lock it up and never leave it overnight. He filed a police report, so who knows, maybe we'll get real lucky and they'll find the bike, but we're not counting on it...it's probably already for sale on craigslist :)

At least we have the olympics tonight...

Girls rock!... another post by daddo

We got to return to the central coast this past weekend where our hosts, Tim and Jill Whitacre, threw a smashing good baby shower for our Dinuba Dollahotties, Andy and Steph, who are soon to have a gorgeous little girl:) Yay Andy and Steph!!

Lucy got to see little stud Tobin again. I told Tobin: "She's off limits 'till 35 pal." I think he got the drift;)

Some of the guys created a new game for the 2012 Summer olympics: bocce ball joust. You have to cling on to two bocce balls using only your neck meat while attempting to dislodge your opponent's.

Daddo got to take Lucy out on a Sunday morning stroll through a vineyard, snap a few photos, and become quite uncomfortable around a couple of horses who insisted on leaning into and over a fence that seemed no higher than 2inches, made of grocery store twisty-tie wire, and wanted only to sniff at his daughter as if she were a morning bundle of hay.

8.8.08

It's almost here...the few weeks of summer I've been looking forward to for four years (ok, exaggerating just a bit)...the olympics!! I LOVE the summer olympics. I love the competition, the althelets, and especially the little stories they do throughout the games that highlight specific althetes so that I feel like I actually know them. I am already addicted to watching any olympic coverage that's available, which might be more dangerous this year since we have free cable now and I'm home with lucy five days a week...

I think the swim cube is amazing - I love the "bubbles" look they created.

Torres is s stud. 41, has kids, and one of the best out there. Check out those muscles!

And of course Kerry Walsh & Misty May - so talented.

My favorites to watch are the swimming events and volleyball. Favorites anyone??

It's all firsts for Lucy

Lucy on the day of her first back-to-tummy roll!!...

We actually got the first roll on video, but have spent the last two and a half weeks trying to figure out how to get it on our computer!! The transfer cord we need has eluded us AND Radio Shack employees. Anywho, the first roll went a little like this: Kayla was on the couch working while Lucy played on her play-mat when she noticed Lucy 'really' going for her dangling sheep. She grabbed the camera, and a few minutes later, in an amazing burst of energy, Lucy (Jackie Chan style; no kidding) flung her right leg over and got her body to roll over her impeding left arm. She, in her classic style, then propped herself up with her arms arching back and smiled.

Here's Lucy going swinging for the first time...

We now often take Lucy out to the swings just to keep her up that extra 10 minutes before bedtime. She loves it and it makes her sleep that much longer in the morning, yay:) NOTE: the attractive rash on Lucy's chin (which Justin calls her red beard) has been around for a few weeks now as she's teething and drooling up a storm! Her pediatrician says just to try and keep her chin drool-free and it'll be fine; no ointments, nada. Lucy doesn't seem bothered by the rash at all so we're just following doctor's orders. Any other ideas out there?

And here's Lucy at the LA Zoo. Mom and dad were suckers and bought annual passes! We have 4 guest passes now so really we were thinking of you too:)
